How can psychotherapy help me?

The process of therapy involves developing a therapeutic relationship between the therapist and client, which allows the individual to explore and talk about their experiences and feelings in a safe and non- judgmental environment. Psychotherapists use various skills to assist clients overcome barriers to their psychological well- being and develop skills to navigate life challenges more effectively.

How frequent should sessions be?

The general rule of thumb for the frequency of sessions is once a week, especially in the beginning. Therapy requires a concentrated effort on a consistent basis to receive optimal results. However, there are several factors that can contribute to determining the frequency, including time, the severity of the issue, the urgency of the issue, and of course the budget you can allocate to it. As progress is made, the frequency of the sessions will decrease.

Do you offer a free initial consultation?

Absolutely! You can contact us to book a free 15-minute phone call.

How much does therapy cost?

Individual therapy sessions are $150 and Couple and Family therapy sessions are $160.

Do you accept insurance?

We do not provide direct billing. However, many health plans do cover psychotherapy. Please contact your insurance provider to inquire about whether you have coverage for psychotherapy.

What is the cancellation policy?

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please inform us at least 24 hours in advance. Your session is If you give us less than 24 hours, we do have to charge for the full fee of the session. We encourage you to check with your insurance provider as late cancellations and missed appointments may not be covered as part of your plan.

Are sessions confidential?

Your privacy is of the utmost importance to us. Your identity and personal information will be kept strictly confidential, meaning that no data and information can be shared with others without having your consent. There are certain exceptions to confidentiality according to Ontario law, and these will be fully discussed with you during your first session.

What if I’m in a crisis or an emergency situation?

In case of emergency, please go to the Emergency Department of the nearest hospital or call 911. You can also contact the Gerstein Crisis Centre at 416-929-5200.
